Founded in Shanghai in 2015 by Alex Yin, UOOYAA’s Chief Creative Director, the brand emerged from a desire to fill a gap in the fashion world — a world with no shortage of clothing, yet lacking in playful, unconventional pieces.
And so, UOOYAA was born.
UOOYAA, pronounced (Ooo-ya), means Raven in Mandarin - a symbol typically associated with bad luck in China. However, the brand has turned this omen on its head, creating a fun, positive, and playful fashion brand.
The second character in the word 'UOOYAA' in Mandarin means 'daughter'- a tribute from UOOYAA’s Founder, Alex, to his daughter Uya, a talented 12-year-old creator.
